Vi returnerer til samme steampunk-verden som vi ble kjent med i The Goblin Emperor, og denne gangen følger vi Celehar, en «Witness for the Dead», som reiser rundt og etterforsker død av alle typer. Karakterene er helt fantastiske, dype og interessante. Historien er blitt mer et krim-mysterium, men beholder intrigene og de hemmelige agendaene som skjer i skyggene som Addison er så flink på.
