Lay Your Bones With Ours

From the author of The Brides, Charlotte Cross delivers a hauntingly chilling, gothic tale set in both the Viking Age and the present day. Lay Your Bones with Ours is about betrayal, forbidden love and the undead.

Some graves should never be opened . . .

In Viking-age Scotland, Astrid is married off to end a blood feud. But her new home, isolated Inver Breck, offers no peace. Trapped by her brutal husband Hallbjorn, Astrid begins to hear the ghosts of his dead wives urging her to join them in the grave. As Hallbjorn’s cruelty escalates, Astrid realizes the only way to shield the innocent is to take his life. Yet even in death he stalks Inver Breck, tormenting both Astrid and the people she has sworn to protect.

In 1947 archaeologist Dr. Lilith Weston arrives at the remote Inverbreck House. Hired to direct an excavation after the sudden death of its previous leader, she finds her new colleagues on edge after a series of strange, unsettling events. When Lilith comes face to face with the undead creature haunting Inverbreck, she begins to doubt her own sanity. But as the ancient draugr of Norse legend hunts her colleagues, Lilith must bind a monster that has waited a thousand years to finish what it started.

For when the veil is thin, the dead come calling, whispering . . . Lay your bones with ours.
